Spirit of the Setting Sun honors the Tequesta people, Miami’s first inhabitants, whose lives flowed in rhythm with the tides and stars. The sacred deer, symbol of renewal and balance, walks through golden waters at dusk, bridging the physical and spiritual worlds. The canoes represent the Tequesta’s mastery of Florida’s waterways, while the glowing horizon reflects their belief in life’s cyclical return - a harmony uniting land, water, and sky.
